Suggestions for Parents
Parent/Guardian: Thank you for choosing the LSEBA Virtual Academy. As a parent or guardian,
you are a very important member of your child's e-learning team. To assist us in providing a successful learning experience
for your child, please consider the following suggestions:
- Access. Know your child’s username and password so that you can access the course.
- Progress. Check your son/daughter’s online grade book at least once a week to determine
how many assignments have been submitted and to view grades received for that week. You will need to ensure that your child
does not give up or get too far behind.
- Communication. Read the comments made by teachers on the various assignments by accessing
the student's e-mail outbox. Encourage your son/daughter to meet or exceed course requirements. Ask questions, listen, praise,
and prod as needed. Convey an expectation of success.
- Outreach. Contact the instructor or Leah Jones (803-535-1376 or
jonesl@octech.edu) if you have questions or concerns.
- Experience. Provide a positive working environment where your child can concentrate and have
access to the Internet, a printer, and a telephone.
If you should have additional questions or concerns, please contact Gloria C. Caldwell
by phone (803- 535-1261) or via email (caldwellgc@octech.edu).
