Lower Savannah Regional Education Center Coordinator


The Education and Economic Development Act (EEDA) is a new way of approaching education through the Personal Pathways to Success initiative. This landmark legislation will help all students realize personal success while providing businesses with better prepared employees. The legislation formed 12 Regional Education Centers to strengthen education and economic development connections. These Centers will work to build relationships among school districts, institutions of higher education, workforce development organizations and local businesses and to develop partnerships that will lead to the realization of the vision set forth in the EEDA. The Regional Education Center Coordinator will facilitate and coordinate the activities of the Regional Education Center and provide leadership for the Personal Pathways to Success initiative across the Region. The Lower Savannah Regional Education Center serves Aiken, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Calhoun, and Orangeburg Counties. Application deadline is May 23, 2008. LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER I
(Full-Time, Permanent)


DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Responsible for security on the college campus. Enforces state laws; preserves public order; protects life and property; prevents, detects and investigates crimes. Responsibilities include coordination with contract security; securing buildings, classrooms, labs, fire prevention, and locating students in emergencies. Enforcing parking rules/regulations; observing road and parking lot hazards; assisting motorists; directing traffic and reserving parking for special meetings on campus. Assisting and cooperating with other law enforcement agencies and officers..

SBTCE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: : Requires high school diploma.
Prefer two years work experience in law enforcement, valid driver’s license with a good driving record, and must be at least 21 years of age. Prefer certification from SC Criminal Justice Academy in accordance with SC Code of Laws 23-6-430 and a criminal justice degree. Certification is mandatory within 1 year from employment in class. Must have the ability to physically perform assigned duties. Job offer will be contingent upon completion of necessary background checks to include a SLED background investigation for State Constable’s Commission

TRADES SPECIALIST III
(Full-Time, Permanent)


DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Performs semiskilled to skilled trades duties in the performance of painting, repairs, maintenance or construction; may operate complex motorized equipment. Must have knowledge of tools, equipment, material and supplies used in maintenance. Skills in making emergency and general repairs to equipment used in campus buildings. Ability to understand and follow instructions and use judgment and initiative to complete routine work without constant supervision.

SBTCE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: : High School Diploma and 2 years directly related experience or 10th grade education and 4 years directly related experience.
