Small businesses account for over 99 percent of all businesses in the
United States and are a vital economic force in our society.
Unfortunately, however, a large percentage of these businesses fail each
year. The most common reason for failure is mismanagement due to lack of
business know-how. The Small Business Management program provides students
with the necessary framework for managing a small business. Accounting, management, and marketing activities are critical to the success of a business. In addition to courses in these areas, Small Business Management students will also study other aspects of the overall business environment. For those who desire to start their own business or purchase an existing business, the program also requires students to develop a business plan and identify funding sources.
