Nursing Department

Registered Nurses provide for the physical, mental and emotional needs of their patients. They are advocates and health educators for patients, families and communities and help people take proactive measures to ensure better health. When providing patient care, they observe, assess and record the symptoms, reactions and progress of their patients; assist doctors during treatments and examinations; administer medications; and help in convalescence and rehabilitation.

Nurses should be caring and empathetic. They must be able to accept responsibility, follow orders precisely, and determine when consultation is required. Threaded throughout this very difficult curriculum are the components of integrity, caring, work ethic, and self-discipline.

Nursing/Health Science Enrollment Seminars For Fall 2009

Group sessions are provided for persons interested in the following programs: Associate Degree Nursing, Practical Nursing, Radiology, Respiratory and Medical Office Assisting. You must attend a session to receive an application packet.

1. Arrive 15 minutes prior to beginning of session!!!
   Be on time!! No one allowed in after session begins.
   Allow 1 1/2 hours for the session.
2. Children are not allowed.
3. Cell phones/beepers must be turned off.

Upon arrival, come to the Student Services lobby in Building “S”

Deadlines to turn in completed application packets:

Early Admission Deadline: 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2008
Final Deadline: 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009

Notification of status: Letters will be mailed within 6 weeks of deadlines
