CRIMINAL JUSTICE

If you enjoy work that requires dedication to your community by overseeing the safety and well-being of its citizens, a career in one of the many fields open to people with a background in criminal justice can be challenging and rewarding.

Employment opportunities abound at every level of local, state and federal government as well as in private industry for the criminal justice graduate. It should be noted that although the career choices in this field may be varied, one common denominator remains critical throughout; and that is that law enforcement work requires its candidates to possess high personal standards such as honesty, good judgement, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility.

A more security-conscious society and concern about drug-related crimes contribute to an increasing demand for law enforcement services. Statistically, turnover in police, detective and special agent positions are among the lowest of all occupations; competition among qualified individuals will remain keen.

OCtech’s Associate Degree Criminal Justice program prepares students for careers in law enforcement by helping them develop competencies in investigative techniques, court procedures, police patrol, prison and jail operations, and the laws of arrest, search and seizure. A grade point average of 2.0 (C) is required to fulfill the program requirements for graduation.
